No-Bake Grape Candy Chocolate Wafer Pops (10-Minute Weeknight Treat)
Who says a weeknight treat needs baking skills or a trip to the corner shop? Turn two of our most-loved snack-shelf stars into a 10-minute, no-bake dessert that feels far fancier than it has any right to — chocolate-dipped grape candy wafer pops.
Why this works
These crunchy, chewy, fruity pops are a no-cook weeknight pick-me-up that comes together while the kettle boils. Crisp chocolate wafer sticks act as the perfect handle and base, while juicy grape chews melt into a glossy, tangy coating that balances the rich cocoa flavour. It’s the kind of quick win you’ll reach for after a long day, or when unexpected guests pop round.
What you need
- From YummAsia
- 1 x Astor Wafer Sticks Choco Box - 40g (about 8–10 sticks)
- 1 x Morinaga Hi-Chew Grape Chewy Candy - 50g
- For bigger batches or snack-stock top-ups, grab the Astor Wafer Sticks Choco Box - 36x40g case
- From your cupboard
- 1 tsp neutral vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp desiccated coconut (optional, for rolling)
- Baking parchment paper
How to make it
- Unwrap all the Hi-Chew grape candies and place them in a small heatproof bowl with the vegetable oil. Sit the bowl over a small pan of gently simmering water, making sure the base doesn’t touch the water.
- Stir the candies for 3–4 minutes on medium-low heat until fully melted into a smooth, thick syrup. Remove the bowl from the heat and let it cool for 1 minute so it thickens slightly and sticks better.
- Line a plate or small tray with baking parchment. Hold one Astor chocolate wafer stick by the very end and dip the top two-thirds into the melted grape syrup, twisting gently to coat evenly.
- If using coconut, roll the wet coated end in desiccated coconut straight away, then lay the pop on the parchment. Repeat with the remaining sticks.
- Pop the tray in the fridge for 5 minutes to set the coating. Serve cold, or keep them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days (if they last that long).
Make it yours
Swap the grape Hi-Chew for any other fruit flavour in the range for a different tangy twist, or dip the coated ends in crushed toasted peanuts instead of coconut for extra crunch. For a grown-up version, sprinkle a tiny pinch of flaky sea salt over the wet grape coating before it sets to cut through the sweetness. If you’re catering for allergies, always check each product page’s supplier allergen information first — the wafer sticks contain gluten, wheat, soya, nuts and milk, while the grape chews may contain milk and soya.
